A-10 Warthog: Attack Run

I never get tired of seeing this weapon and the young people that operate it.  This thing Rocks

THE NIGHT WATCHMAN

Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said, "Someone may steal from it at night." So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job. Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?" So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies. Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?"

So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One was to do the studies and one was to write the reports. Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?" So they created two positions: a time keeper and a payroll officer then hired two people. Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?" So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one year and we are $918,000 over budget, we must cut back." So they laid-off the night watchman.

NOW slowly, let it sink in.

Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter...Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY during the Carter administration?

Anybody?

Anything?

No?

Didn't think so!

Bottom line is, we've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency....the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember!

Ready??

It was very simple... and at the time, everybody thought it very appropriate. The Department of Energy was instituted on 8/04/1977, TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

Hey, pretty efficient, huh???

AND NOW IT'S 2011 -- 34 YEARS LATER -- AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS "NECESSARY" DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. IT HAS 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND LOOK AT THE JOB IT HAS DONE!

(THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?")

33 years ago 30% of our oil consumption was foreign imports. Today 70% of our oil consumption is foreign imports.

Ah, yes -- good old Federal bureaucracy.

NOW, WE HAVE TURNED OVER THE BANKING SYSTEM, HEALTH CARE, AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY TO THE SAME GOVERNMENT?

Articles: Obama Misquotes Bible on Wealth Redistribution

Liberals/Progressives/Democrats say the Bible is off-limits when it addresses the subject of homosexuality, homosexual marriage, abortion, or any issue liberals favor but the Bible condemns.  But it's permitted to be used when wealth-redistribution is being discussed.  The only problem is that when President Barack Hussein Obama quoted from the Bible, he both took his quotation out of context and got it wrong.
On Friday, March 30, 2012, in an address to supporters at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT, Obama condemned what he called "you're-on-your-own economics," arguing for policies that involve transferring wealth from one group of citizens to another to support providing public schools with more money for teachers' salaries; supporting companies developing bio-fuels, electric batteries, and wind and solar power; and funding scientists who are researching climate change.  Obama then quoted from Genesis to support his argument for more taxes and wealth redistribution.
Obama said, "I hear politicians talking about values in an election year. I hear a lot about that. Let me tell you about values. Hard work, personal responsibility - those are values. But looking out for one another. That's a value. The idea that we're all in this together. I am my brother's keeper. I am my sister's keeper. That's a value."
Obama said, "I am my brother's keeper. I am my sister's keeper."  The "brother's keeper" quote comes from the book of Genesis.  But when the entire story is presented, a quite different message comes forth:
1Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, "With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man." 2Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. 4And Abel also brought an offering - fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. 6Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. 8Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Lets go out to the field." While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. 9Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?"
"I don't know," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?"
10The LORD said, "What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground[.]"
By the way, I searched the NIV Bible, with "brother's keeper" as my search argument, and found reference only to Genesis 4:9, so Obama cannot plead "wrong verse."
Further, the Hebrew word for "keeper" is what a prison guard does, keeping prisoners in cells.  Abel was a keeper of flocks, not a lamb that needed "keeping."  A "keeper" implies control of a flock of docile, stupid, incompetent, wandering, helpless...sheep.  The only economic function of sheep is to be sheared.  The State has been the "keeper" of the poor for so long that many of them act like caged animals, fed through the bars of their limited freedom, beholden to the State for sustenance.
This passage has become a familiar one in liberal political and theological circles.  The liberal interpretation of this passage is that each man owes his neighbor property, confiscated from the rich through political action.  We are supposedly the guardians of the poor, the infirm, and the feebleminded.  We have this responsibility, liberals say, as members of the body politic, not as Christian individuals, members of churches, or contributors to voluntary charities.  (See page 215 of Dr. North's referenced PDF.)
So the question is, "Is Obama (or his teleprompter) suggesting that we 'keep' our brothers?"  Is being kept what Obama really has in mind?  The verse Obama misquoted asks a question of a liar (Cain knew where his brother was) and a murderer.  To use Cain's reply to God as justification for wealth redistribution is like using the quotation usually attributed to Joseph Stalin -- "You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs" -- to support "change."
A better illustration of care would be the Good Samaritan in the tenth chapter of Luke, but that wouldn't work for Obama because the Samaritan used his own money.
What is saddest is that we in the internet blogosphere can find the biblical reference and its complete meaning, but the MSM cannot or will not.

Is This A Subtle Bias At Reuters? | RedState

I would say not so subtle...

In a story about the White House in damage control mode over the President’s rather stupid remarks on the Supreme Court, Reuters reports the following:

“What he did was make an unremarkable observation about 80 years of Supreme Court history,” Carney told reporters during a White House briefing dominated by the topic.

and

The president, who taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago, qualified the remark a day later by stressing he meant action by the Court on a matter of commerce, a legal distinction that cut little ice with his critics.

and

“Since the 1930s the Supreme Court has without exception deferred to Congress when it comes to Congress’s authority to pass legislation to regulate matters of national economic importance such as health care, 80 years,” Carney said.

What Reuters did not bother to report is that, in fact, the Supreme Court has ruled unconstitutional a piece of legislation that passed with a bipartisan majority via the commerce clause just 17 years ago.

In referencing Carney’s spin twice and the President’s explanation, would it not have been worthwhile for the news organization to actually point out the undisputed fact that both Barack Obama and Jay Carney are wrong?

Heck, even NBC took time away from doctoring 911 tapes to point out that fact. You would think Reuters would actually, after three times broadcasting the White House spin, simply report an actual fact in contradiction to the spin.

Good Grief… WaPo Says Rep. Bobby Rush Was “Lynched” on House Floor | The Gateway Pundit

When the Civil War ended, and after Republican President Abraham Lincoln liberated the slaves, Democrats initiated Jim Crow laws to punish blacks. Democrats discriminated against blacks. In fact, the KKK, was founded as the the terrorist wing of the Democrat Party.

The Ku Klux Klan assassinated many Republicans including Republican Representative James M. Hinds (December 5, 1833—October 22, 1868) of Little Rock. Hinds represented Arkansas in the United States Congress from June 24, 1868 through October 22, 1868.
But facts be damned…
The Washington Post wrote today that Republicans lynched Bobby Rush last week when they asked the far left representative to leave the floor during his hoodie tirade.
The Washington Post repored, via NewsBusters:
Rush read from the Bible as the presiding officer, Gregg Harper, a two-term Republican from Mississippi, tried to silence him.
For those who haven’t seen it, the exchange went something like this.
“Just because a person wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum,” Rush pronounced. And then he started to read from the book of Micah — “to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God” — as Harper sharply banged his gavel.
“The member will suspend. The member will suspend,” Harper commanded.
And so it continued, for three or so minutes: the black man reading from Scripture, the white man insisting on decorum.
The scene will be rehashed in the media as grandstanding on Rush’s part (and surely that is partially true), but the image that lingers is that of one man trying to silence another whose grief and principles led him to protest.
In his new book, “The Cross and the Lynching Tree,” the theologian James Cone wrestles with the question of how, during the early years of the 20th century, American blacks could continue to believe in the hope of Jesus while American whites continued to kill their black neighbors and go praise Jesus on Sunday. Rush enacted all that tragic history and more in one moment, with Harper as his unwitting accomplice.
Any lie will do when you’re trying to push radical thought.
